Nevada Gaming Control Issues Reopening Procedures

By Kamer Zucker Abbott

April 23, 2020

On April 21, 2020, the Nevada Gaming Control Board issued a Policy Memorandum to assist licensees with reopening after the COVID-19 closure is lifted. The Memorandum requires licensees to establish a reopening plan that addresses specific listed items. Reopening plans must be submitted to the Board at least “seven (7) days before reopening occurs or as soon as reasonably possible thereafter.”

The Board further advises that “all procedures performed during the reopening process must be in compliance with the Minimum Internal Control Standards (Group I licensees), the Internal Control Procedures (Group II licensees) or any Board approved variations of these standards/procedures that were active at the time of closure or were approved subsequent to the closure.” Licensees should carefully review the Memorandum to obtain more information about what procedures must be addressed in the reopening plan and where and how to file the plan.
